This is done on an adhoc basis wherein the Organization is occasionally drawn into contributing to its social corporate responsibility. Under this project, we carry out outreaches to various chosen and suggested places. The respective Manager and committee comes up with a plan that is informed by what we generally do and the current advocacy agenda and a number of places and then the entire members suggest the most convenient and impactful place or group of people to reach out to, offer a helping hand and also interact with the said group.
It is upon this background that Mazungumzo with the blessing of Remnant Generation; an NGO whose mission is to reach, rescue, restore, and empower survivors of sexual abuse and teen mothers to thrive according to God’s plan for their lives, conducted a fundraising campaign aimed at providing basic needs such toiletries, sanitary, stationary among others in order to facilitate for the wellbeing of the teenage mothers and their babies.
This first outreach was carried out on Friday 24th September 2021, during this event, we were able to hold a Youth Baraza dialogue with these young girls at their shelter who shared their experiences and what they have been through especially their sexual violence experiences. From this, we established that there is a lot still needed to be done for the youth out there both male and female since both are affected and traumatized by the various experiences they have been going through. Though it was a short time with them, we at least tried to put smiles on these girl’s faces by empowering them economically, socially and spiritually.
Outreach to Luzira Women’s Prison. This was conducted between 15th to 19th November 2021 in partnership with other organizations; Frauen Initiative, Case hospital and Love to Give Foundation. Women were offered breast cancer screening, counselling. We were able to reach out to 419 women including 40 staff members out of 560 inmates whereby 10 women were found with lumps and other health concerns that needed further attention which we as an entity were unable to service for since we had limited funds as we majorly relied on funds from donations from an in-house fundraising drive and other well-wishers.
Outreach to Kibuku District. This outreach was organized to create awareness on the HIV/AIDs pandemic in a region with a high HIV/AIDS prevalence
Through these outreaches we are able to touch lives and also hold dialogues with various communities we reach out to while continuing to understand the different and general communities we seek to better. We thank Purpose Health Care, Kibuku District Local Government and the Ministry of Health who supported us in this particular exercise.
Every contribution helps us continue our work. Your support allows us to grow and reach more people every day.
